Hon. Isaiah Blood

Hon. Isaiah Blood

From the Albany Argus of the 3d ult. we have the particulars of the death and burial of the Hon. Isaiah Blood, of Ballston Spa, who was at the time of his decease a member of the New York Senate. He was a brother of Mrs. G. A. Hall, who resides across the river nearly opposite this place, in Nebraska. He was engaged in the manufacture of Scythes, axes and other edge tools, being the proprietor of an immense establishment, employing a large number of hands, and in the business he had accumulated a very large fortune. "Although sixty years of age at the time of his death he was still hale and vigorous up to within a few days of his death, having accomplished more business than most men would accomplish in eighty or ninety years,"

His funeral was very largely attended special trains having been run from Albany and from Saratoga for the accommodation of those who desired to attend, and in the procession which was fully a mile and a quarter long were many of the State officials and other distinguished public men. The whole village seemed in mourning over his death, the railroad depot, hotels, churches and many private residences being draped in black. Several distinguished clergymen were present and assisted in the services, the sermon being delivered by Rev. Geo. W. Clerk, pastor of the Baptist Church, of which denomination Mr. Blood was a member.
