General Pershing Reports 28 Casualties; 5 Commissioned Officers on Day's List
Washington, May 26. - The War Department today gave out a list of
28 casualties in the American army abroad, bringing the total to 6,342. The
list included 5 killed in action, 2 died of wounds, 5 died of disease, 2 died of
accident, 7 severely wounded, 5 slightly wounded, and 2 missing in action.
Five commissioned officers are included. Major Samuel M. Wilson, Captain
William J. Burdell, and Lieutenant Frederick H. Cone were wounded
severely. Lieutenants Walter Victor Barneby and Paul B. Kurtz, both aviators,
were killed by accident.
