Gen. Pershing Reports 91 More Casualties; Our Missing at the Front Pass the 200 Mark
Washington, May 16. - The War Department today made public a list
of 91 casualties in the American army abroad, bringing the total from the
beginning to 5,773. The list of missing passed the 200 mark today. The
casualties made public included 8 killed in action, 4 died of wounds, 4 died of
disease, 1 died of accident, 1 died of other causes, 4 wounded severely,
55 wounded slightly, and 14 missing in action.
Seven commissioned officers are named in the list. Lieutenant Carl O.
Rosequist died of wounds. Captain Earl V. Morrow and Lieutenants Lester
S. Macgregor and Winfrey G. Nathan were slightly wounded. Lieutenants
Charles W. Chapman and Robert Baker McDowell are reported missing in
action.
