"The Boland’s are the descendants of two branches of the Ó Beólláin who were located in County Clare, Ireland on the banks of Lough Derg; the other branch established at Doonalton, County Sligo, Ireland. The latter became erenaghs (hereditary lay holders of an abbacy or some ecclesiastical property) of the Church of St.Columban at Drumcliffe. A lineage can be traced to a brother of Brian Boru.
My family are from Dublin and have been for some generations back. Since we set up these pages we have we have been contacted by Boland’s across the world. I hope you have found something of interest, thanks for getting in touch.
