Riverside Cemetery, Toms River, Ocean County, NJ, Ocean County, NJ
Riverside Cemetery is located a very short distance from the Garden State Parkway, just off route 37, between Old Freeehold Road
and Lakewood Road. The laand is shaped liked an arrowhead, the point being where the two roads meet. Many older graves are located
towards the point of the arrow, along both roads. Newer burials tend towards the back end, by the fat end of the arrow head. The cemetery
remains active and is run by an association named "Riverside Cemetery Lot Owners" which can be reached (according to various online sources) as follows:
Po Box 4541
Toms River, NJ 08754
732-341-5941
The place is well maintained and, although some old stones have fallen or suffered significant errosion, is in generally very good condition. Many
of the folks interred here represent some of the oldest Toms River families although we have no idea when it fist opened. If you have any
information pertaining to the history of Riiverside, we would love to hear it.
Our work at Riverside Cemetery is an ongoing project which likely will take some time to complete. Also, we are concerned
exclusively with older burials and will not be photographing any of the newer sections. As we photograph and transcribe, information will be
posted on the site. You may access the information and photographs by clicking on the first letter of the last name of the individual you are
researching, below.
