Cedar View Cemetery, Hurley's Lane, Middletown, Monmouth County, NJ

Located fairly deep in the woods on Hurley's Lane across the street from the
Clayton Thompson Cemetery,
the Cedar View Cemetery was pretty much inaccessible before Monmouth County Sheriff Oxley's crew of "inmate
laborers" cleared a path to several of the grave stones. The woods in which the cemetery is located
are extremely overgrown and filled with poison ivy and sumac. The path cut by Oxley's crew
is certain to become inaccessible again unless more permanent measures are taken.
A visit to the site is not recommended to those easily turned off by spiders and snakes. A
walk through is guaranteed to result in spider web entangled hair. Mosquitoes
are a bit of a problem during the summer and we suggest long pants. When you are through and out of the woods,
thoroughly inspect your body for ticks.
The path is narrow in spots and one needs to keep their eyes open so as not to miss a few of the grave
stones tucked into the brush. We are not certain that we recorded all the stones as it is quite possible that
there are more hidden by the thick brush.
