Henry Ludlam
Henry Ludlam, noted Shakespearean actor and dramatic art director, died yesterday in the Presbyterian Hospital, after an illness of ten days. He was sixty-two years old. The funeral will be on Friday, from his late residence, 426 South Forty-seventh street.
M. Ludlam was associated with Alexander Salvini, the tragedian: Thomas Q. Seabrooke, Milnes Levick, Margaret Mather and other stage celebrities while a member of the old Chestnut Street Theatre stock company. Eighteen years ago he founded the Ludlam School of Dramatic Art. His wife, who was Miss. Mabel Williams Arey, was one of his pupils. They were married in April 1906. Miss Arey was a student at Bryn Mawr College and a daughter of the late Henry Arey, a former president of Girard College.
Dr. D. Murray Cheston
Dr. D. Murray Cheston, seventy-six years old, died last night at the Chestnut Hill Hospital from injuries received a week ago in a fall in the home of his daughter, Mr. William Jones Haines, 124 Chestnut avenue, Chestnut Hill.
Doctor Cheston was a member of a prominent Philadelphia family and practiced as a physician here for forty years. Following his retirement from active practice, nearly fifteen years ago, he moved to his farm, Hawthorne Ridge, Harwood, near Annapolis, Md., which remained his residence.
Funeral services will be conducted today at St. Paul's Protestant Episcopal Church, Chestnut Hill, at 4 p.m.
