New Jersey Obituaries - 1936 - Arthur Arose

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon from Bedle's funeral parlors for Arthur Arose, 56, who was found dead in his boat while being towed from the clambeds late Friday afternoon.

One of his companion clammers called for Mr. Arose to look at the Hindenberg which was passing over the water at the time, and upon receiving no response, asked the captain to stop and investigate. It was thought that Mr. Arose suffered a heart attack. The man's lunch was found open and in his hand was an unfinished sandwich.

Mr. Arose had lived in Keyport all his life and was the son of Pricilla (Drusilla) Arose and the late John Henry Arose. Also surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Florence Pearce, of Newark; three brothers, William, of this borough; Lester, of Vineland and Edward, of Greenport.

For many years the deceased was employed as an engineer at the Louis Stults Ice plant here (Keyport).

The funeral services were in charge of the Rev. William R. Rossell, pastor of the First Baptist Church and interment in Green Grove cemetery was under the direction of H. S. Bedle."
