WAS SICK ONLY AN HOUR.
SUDDEN DEATH OF WILLIAM F. DIVITZ OF LEONARDO.
He Was Taken sick While Doing Duty as Night Watchman on Melin [sic] A. Rice's Farm and He Died
Shortly After He Returned Home.
William Frederick Divitz of Leonardo, night watchman on Melvin A. Rice's farm at that place,
died suddenly Tuesday night of last week. He had been laid up with diabetes, but he
recovered sufficiently to return to work about a month ago. Last
Tuesday night he was taken sick shortly after he went to work and
he was sent home in Mr. Rice's auto mobile. He died about an hour later.
Mr. Divitz was a man of many sterling qualities and his death is
mourned by a large circle of friends and acquaintances. He was a native
of Germany. He was 69 years old and was twice married. He is survived by a wife and five children.
The children are Mrs. Amzi Thorne and Harry, Frederick and Leon Divitz of Leonardo
and Mrs. William A. Poling of Keyport.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the house and the sermon
was preached by Rev. Joseph H. Schaeffer of Atlantic Highlands. The Leonardo fire company and the
Odd Fellows' lodge of Atlantic Highlands, of which organizations Mr.
Divitz was a member, sent floral pieces and large delegations to the
funeral. The burial was at Bay View cemetery at Atlantic Highlands.
