David Burdge Swan died at his residence on Broad Street on Monday morning,
aged 73 years and 10 months. he was born in Middletown Township on October 21st, 1812,
and lived there until manhood. When a younr man he was engaged
in the boating business on the river with his father. He married
Gertrude Rowland, of Long Island, and three children were born to them, only
one of whom survives him - the wife of James Walling. Mr Swan lost his wife several years ago
and his daughter kept house for him. For many years he lived on the property at the corner
of Broad and White Streets, now owned by William Haddon. At that
time he was in the carting business.Twenty-nine years ago he sold the homestead property
and built the house in which he died. The funeral will take place tomorrow morning from the house
at half past ten o'clock. The services will be conducted by Rev. George K. Allen, and the interment
will be made at Fairview.
