Joseph Sharp Has Joined the Innumerable Hosts

At 10:30 last Wednesday night Uncle Joseph Sharp closed his eyes in that long sleep which knows no waking--calmly, peacefully, resignedly he joined the innumerable hosts, leaving his aged widow, with whom he had dwelt nearly fifty-four years, and his two sons and two daughters to mourn his death.

Deceased was born in Campbelltown, Stuben county, N. Y., Sept 20, 1818. December 16, 1839, he was married to Miss Sarah Gregory. Together they came to Illinois in 1855, shortly thereafter moving in the neighborhood of Lisbon; lived a few years at Dresden and a short time in Vienna township, and about twenty-six years ago they again took up their residence in Morris where, with the exception of three years' residence in Missouri, they have since continued to reside.

Mr. Sharp was taken with grippe last May, which ran into bronchitis, later he was attacked with liver trouble, then hemorrhages set in on Saturday night last he was stricken with paralysis, by which his left side has been entirely lost up to the time of his death. Deceased in earlier years was a man of splendid physique and possessed a giant's strength; this superior physical condition was accountable for his lingering so long and in making such a heroic battle against so many ills during the past six months. He was a kind husband, an intelligent father, a good citizen.

The surviving children are Mrs. Delia Edgbert of Washington, Mrs. Henry Randall of Aux Sable, and Wallace and Marian of this city.

The funeral will take place from the Baptist church tomorrow, Friday, at 2 p.m. and by request of deceased Rev. C. S. Thomas will officiate.
