60 Casualties Reported by General Pershing; 15 Killed in Action, 11 Dead of Accidents
Washington, May 31. - The War Department today gave out a list of
60 casualties in the American army abroad, bringing the grand total to 6,523.
The list included the names of 15 killed in action, 6 died of wounds, 11 died
of accident, 1 missing in action, 15 severely wounded, 8 slightly wounded, and
4 died of disease. Seven commissioned officers were included. Lieutenants
Richard Anderson, Robert J. Griffith, William S. Stearns, William N. Hewitt,
and Frank P. McCreery died of accident. Lieutenants Clark H. Apted and
Thomas D. Amory were severely wounded.
