Pershing Cables 106 Casualties in Army; Three, First Reported Missing, Are Prisoners
Washington, May 17. - The War Department today made public a list
of 106 casualties in the army abroad, bringing the total from the beginning
to 5,879. The list included the names of 15 killed in action, 6 died of wounds,
4 died of disease, 1 died of gas poisoning, 12 wounded severely, 60 slightly
wounded, 8 missing in action. One previously reported missing in action is
now reported killed in action. Three others previously reportedmissing are
now reported prisoners.
The names of four commissioned officers are in the list. Lieutenant
Charles W. Maxon is missing in action. Lieutenants Harold A. Goodrich and
M. S. Redmond, previously reported missing, are now reported prisoners.
Lieutenant Averill Braxton Pfeifer was slightly wounded.
