57 Casualties on General Pershing's List Include 3 Killed in Action, 28 Wounded
Washington, June 1. - The War Department today gave out a list of
57 casualties in the American army abroad. It also announced that a soldier
previously reported missing had returned to duty, eliminating one from the
total number of casualties previously reported. The new casualties reported
today bring the grand total to 6,579.
The list included the names of 3 killed in action, 6 died of wounds, 1 died
in an airplane accident, 17 severely wounded, 11 slightly wounded, 9 missing
in action, and 10 died of disease. Three commissioned officers were included.
Lieutenants Lee V. Farnum, Andrew P. Peterson, and James D. Ward were
severely wounded.
