The Dominick Morris plot in Old Cathedral Cemetery was visited on 22 October 1986. It
is located in the smaller part of the cemetery, across the street that divides the cemetery and
directly behind the sexton's office at the entrance to the place. The plot contained a single
white stone marker which was lying face upwards on the ground. It had been very recently cleared of
dirt and turned face upwards. The imprint of the letters was still visible where the stone had been
lying. Cemetery groundskeepers were apparently getting ready to set the stone upright again (as it
was indeed found on a late visit). The engraving on the stone is as follows:
Jennie Spear
Dominick Morris 70
Dominick Morris Jr. 3 yrs
Mary Morris
It would appear that the stone was set up after the death of Mary Morris, since the lettering
seems to have been done all at the same time. Catherine Spear, who died only three months before
Mary, is not listed on the stone.
